Dr. Frigerio’s activity focuses on pancreatic surgery and multidisciplinary treatment of pancreatic cancer. 

She graduated at Milan University in 1999, completed the Residency Program in General Surgery and earned a PhD in Hepato-Biliary and Pancreatic diseases at the University of Verona. She holds the National Scientific qualification for Associate Professor of General Surgery. 

Since 2012 Dr. Frigerio has been a faculty member of European Digestive Surgery (EDS) and she was elected EDS President in 2024. In 2015 Dr Frigerio co-founded the first Italian Association of Women Surgeons (WIS Italia) and in 2020 she established the Association of Women Leaders in Healthcare (LEADS) aiming to reach gender equity in surgery at all levels. In 2017 she initiated and lead the first Italian Fellowship Program in Pancreatic Surgery at the Pederzoli Hospital and in 2023 became the Vice Chair of Fellowship in Surgical Oncology promoted by the Italian Association of Surgical Oncology.  

Currently, Dr. Frigerio serves as the Secretary-General of E-AHPBA, and she leads the first E-AHPBA Mentorship Program. She is also Vice-Chair of the Women in Surgery sub-committee of the International Relations Committee (American College of Surgeons). 

Among editorial roles, she is Associated Editor of Digestive Surgery and Artificial Intelligence Surgery Journal and authored more than 90 peer reviewed articles, with 25 as H-index. 

Her primary interests are pancreatic cancer surgery, multidisciplinary approach to pancreatic cancer, AI, education in surgery and the role of women surgeons globally. Strong believer in the value of a teamwork, she values networking and international collaborations as crucial elements for advancement in the scientific and surgical field.
